
Adjudication Officer
Summary
To assist the Senior Manager, Credit Risk Management with the required functions of the Adjudication Unit including but not limited to: Assist with reviewing consumer loan and credit card applications to ensure maintenance of agreed turnaround times. Verification and assessment of consumer credit applications. Facilitate quality assurance procedures in the credit application process by reviewing and amending as necessary, credit proposals submitted for approval. Approve credit applications including credit cards within delegated authority. Have prepared and dispatched all required reports that may be requested in a timely manner. Ensure compliance with Central Bank Regulatory requirements. Assist with execution of Key Strategic Objectives set by senior management.
Responsibilities
- • Reviewing completed Credit Applications for documentation, accuracy, content, interest rate spreads and adequacy of security as well as conformance with Central Bank regulatory requirements and the Bank’ Credit Policy and Procedures.
- • Verify supporting documentation for all consumer credit requests and obtain additional information where applicable.
- • Reviewing correspondence received and ensures prompt response.
- • Determine the adequacy and enforceability (with legal assistance if necessary) of collateral security, the financial condition of borrowers and their capacity to service the debts.
- • Adjudicate on credit facilities and make decision in the Loan Automation System
- • Carrying out range of lending activities within authorized limits.
- • To ensure that the loan requirements are adhered to, for example, ensure eligibility of borrower, correct classification of loans.
- • To recommend conditions of approval for the loans being applied for in accordance with established Credit policy.
- • Any other duties assigned by the senior management of the bank.
Required Skills
- • Detailed knowledge of consumer lending practices and credit analysis.
- • Thorough knowledge of the Banking Services Act 2014 and the BOJ Regulations regarding Credit Classification, Provisioning and Non-accrual Requirements.
- • Sound knowledge of security documentation, perfection and procedure for discharge of various types of security.
- • Knowledge of computer applications used by the Bank.
- • Analytical skills and ability to assess lending risks.
- • Well-developed communication skills, oral and written.
- • Interpersonal skills to negotiate and work effectively with customers in distress, successfully handle complaints; ability to understand customers’ individual needs and requirements and vary interpersonal approach to each situation while achieving the Bank’s objectives.
Qualifications
- • First Degree in Management Studies, Finance, Economics or FCIB of equivalent.
- • Three (3) years of general credit knowledge and loan administration.
