Summary

Under the general direction of the Training & Development Manager, the Training Coordinator is responsible for providing support for the coordination and administration of training and development of staff and the achievement of the Training & Development Department’s objectives.

Responsibilities

  • • To oversee total pharmacy operations at all Government Pharmacies in primary and secondary care facilities within the parishes assigned.
  • • To research, monitor and share with staff and other stakeholders new developments and Best Practices in the Pharmaceutical Industry
  • • To ensure that activities of the National Health Fund remain within the framework of the policies of the Ministry of Health.
  • • To be responsible for the effective supervision, mentoring, leadership, developing and motivation of the pharmacy team while forging stronger relationships with local health authorities and health care professionals.
  • • To ensure that there is adherence to the Laws, Policies and Regulations governing Pharmacy Operations and Prescription related issues in Jamaica.
  • • To give guidance in prioritizing targets to meet the Company’s financial expectations.
  • • To oversee the training of Pharmacy Students, Pharmacy and Pharmacy Technician Interns and Pharmacy Staff.

  • • Ability to handle multiple priorities and to work on own initiative.
  • • Display good leadership qualities, set and maintain professional standards.
  • • Ability to establish and maintain linkages across multidisciplinary teams at the executive level.
  • • Excellent organizational, time management, human relations and supervisory skills.
  • • Strong cognitive, analytical, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.

Qualifications

  • • Master's in Management Studies/Business Administration.
  • • Bachelor of Pharmacy Degree.
  • • Registered Pharmacist licensed by the Pharmacy Council of Jamaica.
  • • Minimum of ten (10) years working experience as a Pharmacist, with at least eight (8) years experience in a supervisory capacity.
  • • At least four (4) years experience in managing multiple projects and/or multiple operations, preferably in the Pharmaceutical Industry.
  • • Experience with quality assurance standards and pharmaceutical procurement guidelines, preferably in the public sector.
