
Supervisor - Data Administration Support
Summary
Supervise, coach and mentor assigned team members to complete work assignments and achieve unit targets. Assist with resolving operational and team-related issues to support the accurate and efficient management of client data to eliminate data errors, privacy breaches and maintain policy and regulatory compliance. Assist with monitoring the effectiveness of procedures and processes for providing and maintaining accurate and consistent standards, quality, integrity, and security of client data. Work with team and unit management to identify areas for improvement within data management processes, procedures and service standards, and assist with implementing improvement initiatives as required. Assist with the requisition, recruitment, selection and on-boarding of team members. Train, provide performance feedback for, and encourage, team members to develop strong client relationships. Serve as a key member of various operational projects as required. Collaborate with various internal and external stakeholders to resolve data management-related queries, concerns and needs promptly and effectively.
Responsibilities
- • Supervise, coach and mentor direct reports to ensure assignments are completed and unit targets achieved.
- • Coordinate workload distribution, prioritise tasks, and ensure timely and effective execution of assignments in line with standard operating procedures and service level agreements.
- • In collaboration with Assistant Manager, maintain documentation, including standard operating procedures, training manuals and other client data reference materials; utilise the documentation to assist with the on-boarding/orientation of new team members and monitor compliance within the team.
- • Guide and monitor team members to assist with ensuring the procedures and processes for administering the Group and Individual Health and Life insurance business portfolios are followed and adequate to delivering a high level of service to the clients.
- • Continuously monitor data management activities related to Group Health and Life Insurance and individual plans to ensure compliance with company policies, standards of service, procedures, data privacy and other relevant business legislation, healthcare and other relevant regulatory requirements.
- • Consult with unit management and recommend changes to processes and procedures to drive effective data handling and processing.
- • Monitor activities within the team to ensure prompt and effective communication with clients, addressing inquiries and concerns in line with company policy and service level standards.
- • Contribute to the development and execution of data handling and processing strategies to align unit work and team performance to overall company strategies, goals and objectives.
- • Prepare and email reports monthly on key performance variables.
- • Contribute to the preparation of the department’s annual budget.
- • Perform other job-related duties assigned from time to time.
Required Skills
- • Excellent supervisory skills and sound knowledge of industrial relations.
- • Ability to conduct research, analyse data and make recommendations.
- • Excellent written and oral communication and listening skills, with the ability to communicate technical data concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- • Sound knowledge of data protection and other business laws, regulations and compliance requirements.
- • In-depth knowledge of data governance, data quality management, and data lifecycle processes.
- • In-depth knowledge of Group Life and Health portfolio management, Individual Life and Health Insurance policy contracts as well as Provider services portfolio.
- • Strong analytical/problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- • Sound knowledge of insurance products, processes, procedures and industry best practices.
- • Working knowledge of basic accounting and budgeting principles.
- • Sound knowledge of computer software packages including CRM business software, data management software, tools, word processing and spreadsheet applications.
Qualifications
- • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Management Studies or an equivalent qualification from a recognised tertiary institution.
- • Three (3) years’ working experience in data management, data analytics or a related field, with at least one (1) year spent at the supervisory level, preferably in the operations division of a life or health insurance company.
- • Fellow, Life Management Institute (FLMI), Health Insurance Associate (HIA) or Associate Customer Service (ACS) designations.
- • Supervisory or Management training highly desirable.
- • In-depth knowledge of local Data Privacy legislation.
