Summary

To collect, receipt and lodge all monies on behalf of TAJ, update and balance Receipt Cash Book, maintain the Petty Cash Imprest, safeguard and dispatch/ disburse cheques/cash. 💰Salary: $1,771,060 - 2,301,185 JMD per annum

Responsibilities

  • Issues receipts for cash and cheques received;
  • Lodges amounts received promptly to the relevant bank accounts;
  • Updates and balances ‘Receipts Cash Book;
  • Accurately posts all monies received to the Financial Management System;
  • Secures cheques, cash, system generated and other receipts as well as lodgement books in the vault;
  • Makes authorized petty cash payments and prepares reimbursements and ensures that receipts are collected promptly;
  • Distributes cheques to authorized person on the presentation of valid ID/and or certified letter from company and or individuals;
  • Observes customer service standards in keeping with TAJs core values;
  • Prepares and submits a comprehensive and accurate report on all monies received and lodged to the various bank accounts;
  • Supports the identification and management of risks within the organization and by extension the respective area of work;
  • Performs any other related duties assigned by the Senior Accountant, Payments.
  • This job is satisfactorily performed when:

    • Monies are collected, receipted and lodged in keeping with the FAA Act;
    • Cheques and cash are secured and distributed according to the FAA Act;
    • Petty cash imprest maintained in keeping with standards;
    • Accurate and comprehensive reports are prepared and submitted by the due date.

Required Skills

  • Specific Knowledge:

    • Working knowledge of the Financial Administration & Audit (FAA) Act and other financial regulations and guidelines;
    • Working knowledge of government accounting principles and practices;
    • Working knowledge of relevant computer systems and applications;
    • Knowledge of the Department’s Code of Conduct.
  • Required Skills and Specialised Techniques:

    • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills;
    • Strong appreciation for details and accuracy;
    • Good time management skill.

Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in Accounts, Business Administration or equivalent professional qualification;
  • Government Accounting Level 2;
  • At least one (1) year work related experience.
