Logistics Manager
Summary
The Manager, Logistics is responsible for management of import permits, all clearance of containers as well as detention and demurrage charges/costs. S/he is also responsible for managing the logistics team in caring out all import duties and approvals.
Responsibilities
- • Manage the logistics team to ensure the achievement of cost, productivity, accuracy and timeliness objectives.
- • Coordinate the importation of products requiring import permits and licenses (including meat, seafood, alcoholic beverages, groceries, and non-food categories).
- • Manage the movement of bonded cargo, inclusive of ex-warehouse records.
- • Ensure compliance with all current & changing regulatory requirements.
- • Implement service level agreements to match the highest standard of efficiency.
- • Manage & maintain the highest level of service delivery.
Collaborate with business units to integrate logistics with business systems and processes in:
- • Finance
- • Operations
- • Manufacturing units
- • Customer service
- • Budget estimates of import duties and fees payable – weekly, monthly and annually.
Liaise with Regulatory and Government Agencies including:
- • MICAF/VSD
- • MOH
- • Jamaica Customs
- • Jamaica Maritime Authority
- • Coconut Industry Board
- • Coffee Board
- • Trade Board
- • Bureau of Standards
- • Ports in Jamaica
- • Brokers
- • Haulage companies
- • To implement any activity, process or strategy that will improve the competitive advantage of the company, in consultation with the Directors and other members of the Senior Management Team.
- • Development and maintenance of a Manual of Standard Operating Procedures for the Logistics team.
- • Ensuring the maintenance of the good name and reputation of Caribbean Producers Jamaica Ltd. in general through the demonstration and practice of the highest standards of ethical conduct.
- • To abide by the disciplinary code of the company.
- • Any other duties as may be assigned.
Required Skills
- • Strong management skills and supervisory techniques.
- • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well with all levels of staff.
- • Ability to work flexible hours as the needs of the service dictate, including out of normal hours as required.
- • Ability to develop and maintain good relationships with all stakeholders – internal and external including colleagues, customers, suppliers, service providers, government agencies.
- • An understanding of the principles of good customer service.
- • Ability to work within Corporate Policies.
- • Should possess good written and verbal communication skills.
- • Proficiency in Word and Excel
- • Self-motivated with the proven ability to prioritize and work independently with minimal supervision.
- • Presentation skills should include modern presentation methods.
- • Well organized and methodical approach to work and the work environment.
- • Trustworthy, dependable and reputable.
Qualifications
- • Minimum requirement: Bachelor’s degree in business or related field.
- • Minimum 10 years’ experience in the hospitality/food industry or international logistics.
- • Previous experience in supervising or managing a team of people.
