Business Relationships Associate (RM)
Summary
In this role, you will be responsible for conducting comprehensive research on third-party companies to gather information regarding their corporate structures, including their officers and directors. This position is critical to evaluating the permissibility of various business relationships in compliance with SEC, AICPA, and IESBA independence rules and firm policies. You will also be tasked with monitoring approved business relationships for changes in ownership structure to ensure ongoing compliance. This individual will report on operational achievements and issues to the JESS Business Relationship Senior Associate and Risk Management Independence Client team members who are accountable for supported work.
Responsibilities
- • Conduct comprehensive research on third-party companies to gather detailed information about their corporate structures, including officers and directors.
- • Utilize various resources and apply analytical and critical thinking skills to assess inquiries and determine their relevance and compliance with KPMG US firm policies.
- • Evaluate business relationship inquiries for compliance with SEC, AICPA, and IESBA independence rules and firm policies.
- • Monitor approved business relationships for changes in ownership structure to continuously assess their permissibility.
- • Draft detailed memos and document conclusions based on research findings and assessments.
- • Collaborate with onshore and offshore team members to ensure accuracy and completeness of gathered information and assessments.
- • Interface with Audit, Advisory, Tax and BPG professionals to provide guidance, resolve questions on matters of basic to intermediate complexity regarding the application of professional independence standards.

Qualifications
- • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- • Minimum of three (3) years’ relevant work experience in risk management.
- • Demonstrated experience in compliance, research, and corporate governance.
- • Proficiency in understanding and applying SEC, AICPA, and IESBA independence rules.
- • Solid verbal/written communication, problem-solving, analytical, and independent judgement skills to support an environment driven by customer service and teamwork.
Additional Information and Instructions
Special Conditions Associated with the Job:
- • Expected to work in a fast-paced team environment.
- • Will be working primarily in a paperless environment and expected to be using information systems for the entire workday to access data or perform activities.
- • May be required to work extended hours periodically or on public holidays.
