Legal Officer
Summary
Under the supervision of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Legal Officer provides advice and guidance on a range of legal matters to support the work of eGov Jamaica Limited and is responsible for the effective and efficient management of legal services. The incumbent also manages legal and contractual risks, conducts research, provides legal advice and opinions and makes legal representation as well as attend Court on behalf of the organization.
Responsibilities
- • Provide guidance/advice to the CEO, Divisional Directors, Department Heads and managers as it relates to legal matters.
- • Represent the organization at meetings, conferences and other functions.
- • Develop draft and final Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
- • Draft, examine and review contracts of engagement on behalf of the organization to ensure conformity with related laws and policies.
- • Direct internal investigations and provide information to satisfy requests of clients or the judicial system.
- • Coordinate and conduct training within the organization for changes in legislation, interpretation of relevant laws and Court procedures.
- • Undertake Contract Management and SLA Management related activities for government clients.

Qualifications
- • Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Degree.
- • Certificate of Legal Education. (L.E.C.)
- • A minimum of ten (10) years practice at the Bar.
- • Demonstrated experience in commercial law, employment law, labour laws, and any other relevant legislation.
- • Demonstrated experience with government procedures, regulations and guidelines.
- • Demonstrated experience in a similar role.
