Intelligent Transportation System Communication Technician (Contract)

Summary

The National Works Agency, an Executive Agency of the Government of Jamaica, is seeking suitably qualified individuals for the under-mentioned position. Intelligent Transportation System Communication Technician (Contract) 💰Salary: $3,545,292 JMD per annum

Responsibilities

The incumbent is expected to discharge their responsibilities through the attainment of key outputs which include but are not limited to the following:

• • Install and configure supporting network equipment, including but not limited to routers, switches, servers, and firewalls.
• • Installing, configuring, and supporting wireless network equipment, including but not limited to wireless access points and wireless access point controllers.
• • Configuring firewalls, routers, and switches to maximize network efficiency and security.
• • Maximizing network performance through ongoing monitoring and troubleshooting.
• • Monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning.
• • Configure and deploy Intelligent Transportation System equipment.

Qualifications

• • Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Networking, Computer Science, Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent from a recognized tertiary institution.
• • At least 6 years' experience in WAN/LAN design, configuration, and maintenance.
• • Extensive knowledge of TCP/IP, Ethernet, Wireless, QoS, VoIP, and other internet/intranet Technologies.
• • Be able to configure, deploy, and troubleshoot traffic variable message signs.
• • Be able to configure, deploy, and troubleshoot traffic signal communication boards.
• • Be able to configure, deploy, and troubleshoot traffic CCTV cameras and equipment.
• • Be able to configure and integrate backup power systems for traffic signals.
