Actuarial Analyst
Summary
Perform calculations and validations, prepare reports, and maintain computerized and manual files and records pertinent to the actuarial requirements of the Company as guided by the Actuary. ** May require frequent work outside of normal business hours and occasionally on weekends. *

Responsibilities
- • Provide assistance to the Direct Supervisor in the supervisor’s areas of responsibility; including but not limited to preparation of ALM & ERM reports.
- • Assist with monthly valuations of policy liabilities by retrieving/ obtaining data from the policy master file and the Employee Benefits Division, investigating and correcting any inaccuracies in the data and preparing the data for use in valuation software.
- • Manage the movement in in-force policies monthly, making note of any usual/unusual changes in the number of policies.
- • Contribute to the preparation of the determination of the Capital Requirements of the company. – MCCSR/LICAT.
- • Compile the invested asset movement on a monthly basis noting securities that were bought/sold during each month.
- • Determine Individual Life policy values and reserves as requested by various internal departments, by reviewing policy details on the Individual Life Administration System, calculating the policy values or reserves, and submitting the results to the supervisor for review.
- • Liaise where necessary with Information Systems regarding software issues and communicate results to the originating department.
- • Perform other job-related duties assigned from time to time.
Required Skills
- • Strong mathematical, computing, research, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- • Detail Oriented.
- • Good interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills.
- • Working knowledge of computer software packages particularly spreadsheet software and word processing software.
Qualifications
- • Bachelor’s Degree in Actuarial Science, or Mathematics from a recognized tertiary institution.
- • Completion of one (1) actuarial examination administered by a recognized Actuarial body, or not less than a B+ grade in Actuarial Science/Mathematics degree course work.
- • At least 1 year of work experience preferred in a business/computing environment.
