Chief Field Assistant (Level 3)
Summary
The successful candidate will report to Assistant Surveyors Job Purpose: To support the efficient execution of the various types of survey projects undertaken by survey teams đź’°$1,439,455 -$1,935,907 JMD per annum.
Responsibilities
Key Outputs:
- • Measurements facilitated and recorded
- • Maintenance of Survey equipment supervised
- • Casual labourers effectively supervised
- • Planting of Survey marks supervised
Key Responsibility Areas:
- • Facilitates and records survey measurements
- • Undertakes general care, storage and maintenance of survey equipment, while on field assignment
- • Organizes and supervises the clearing of survey lines by casual labourers
- • Assists in setting of temporary and permanent survey marks
- • Provides general support to the survey team in the execution of field surveys
Other:
- • Performs other related duties assigned from time to time by the Supervisor
Performance Indicators:
- • Survey marks are checked to ensure that they are accurately embedded to facilitate the taking of survey measurements and to guide future surveys
- • Equipment and instruments are checked for operational efficiency
- • Casual labourers perform tasks to specification
- • Checks done to ensure accuracy in measurement done by Field Assistant
Resources Managed:
- • Survey instruments/equipment
Required Skills
- • Good interpersonal and communication skills
- • Knowledge of survey instruments and rudiments of survey
Qualifications
- • School Leaving Certificate
- • At least three (3) years working experience in a survey environment

Special Conditions Associated with the Job:
- • Working in difficult terrain
- • Long hours in the field
- • Carrying of survey instruments/equipment
- • Exposure to adverse weather conditions and difficult and hazardous environmental conditions [insects and vegetation]
