Accounting Officer - Pension Funds

Summary

Ensure completeness of data in the General Ledger and assist in the funds audit. Prepare payment requests, returns for contractor levy and general consumption tax and prepare bank reconciliations.

Responsibilities

  • Analyse and prepare General Consumption Tax and Contract Levy computation for payments monthly.
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations, research and clear outstanding items.
  • Ensure completeness of transactions in the General Ledger.
  • Review and process Pension refunds and other benefit payments.
  • Prepare Annuity Purchases Invoices and submit to Payables for payment.
  • Review bank accounts for receipts and update e-payment report for submission to the Cashier.
  • Upload annuity purchases and withdrawals in Port MS.
  • Assist with EBA queries and audit requests.
  • Investigate queries raised by EBA and assist with making necessary adjustments within current month.
  • Assist with the completion of audits for the Funds.
  • Assist in the analysis of Intercompany accounts for the Pension Funds.
  • Perform any other job-related duties assigned from time to time.

Required Skills

  • Good knowledge of accounting techniques.
  • Familiarity with computerized Accounting Systems.
  • Ability to work in a demanding environment and to be able to meet strict deadlines.
  • Sound knowledge of computer software packages such as word processing and spreadsheet applications.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Management, or other related discipline, from a recognized tertiary institution or ACCA Level I.
  • Two (2) years’ working experience in accounting.
