Summary

Provide financial reporting and accounting support to the accounting personnel to ensure timely and accurate preparation, analysis, and reporting of financial and accounting information and management of the Company’s general ledger.

Responsibilities

  • Review settlements, investigate material balances, and post correcting entries, where required.
  • Prepare intercompany entries and intercompany statements for assigned Group member companies.:

    • Ensure that intercompany settlements are submitted within the timeframe specified.
  • Review write down of prepayments.:

    • Determine accruals and related adjustments prior to close of the accounting month.
  • Analyze account balances or financial statement variances and investigate unusual entries and movements.
  • Prepare monthly schedules for elimination upon consolidation of group accounts.
  • Prepare summary of related party deposit balances.
  • Prepare bank account elimination entries.
  • Prepare monthly financial reports for the management team.
  • Prepare account reconciliations for general ledger accounts when required in accordance with the company’s reconciliation policy.
  • Prepare the Sagicor Financial Corporation (SFC) reporting package.
  • Prepare foreign currency position reports.
  • Participate in projects/ initiatives, such as new product development, that require relevant financial, and accounting related expertise as specified from time to time.
  • Perform other related duties.

Required Skills

  • Knowledge of accounting standards (IFRS), general accounting practices and techniques.
  • Working knowledge of the Banking Services Act, Companies Act, Securities Act, and regulatory requirements.
  • Familiarity with computerized accounting systems.
  • High proficiency in the use of computer software packages particularly the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • High level of motivation and excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical, conceptual thinking, and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Management Studies or other related discipline from a recognized tertiary institution or the successful completion of the ACCA level II qualification.
  • Professional Accounting Designation (ACCA, CPA, CMA, or CGA).
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ working experience in the accounting field.
