Instrumentation Supervisor
Summary
The Instrumentation Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of instrumentation and control systems within a plant or industrial facility. This role involves managing a team of instrumentation technicians, ensuring that systems operate efficiently, safely, and in compliance with industry standards and company policies.
Responsibilities
- • Supervise and lead a team of instrumentation technicians, providing guidance, support, and training to ensure high-quality workmanship and adherence to safety protocols.
- • Plan, schedule, and coordinate maintenance and repair activities for instrumentation systems, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
- • Oversee the installation, calibration, and commissioning of new instrumentation and control systems.
- • Ensure instrumentation systems, including sensors, controllers, and control loops, are maintained and functioning optimally.
- • Troubleshoot and resolve complex instrumentation issues, coordinating with other departments as necessary to maintain system reliability.
- • Conduct regular inspections and assessments of instrumentation equipment, ensuring compliance with industry standards, regulations, and company policies.
- • Maintain and update accurate documentation for all instrumentation systems, including maintenance logs, calibration records, and system schematics.
- • Ensure the team follows safety procedures and adheres to all relevant health and safety regulations.
- • Develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives for instrumentation systems, recommending upgrades and enhancements as needed.
- • Monitor inventory levels of instrumentation parts and supplies, ensuring that necessary materials are available for repairs and replacements.
- • Prepare reports and communicate system performance, issues, and maintenance activities to management.
- • Ensure effective communication between the instrumentation team and other departments to promote collaboration and timely issue resolution.
Qualifications
Requirements:
- • Minimum of 5 years of experience in instrumentation and control systems, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- • Post-secondary education or a Technical Trade Certificate/Diploma in Instrumentation, or a related field.
- • Strong knowledge of instrumentation, control systems, PLCs and troubleshooting techniques.
- • Proven leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team.
- • Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic skills, with the ability to manage complex instrumentation challenges.
- • Strong organizational and time-management abilities, with experience in planning and coordinating maintenance activities.
- • Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
- • Solid understanding of safety regulations and best practices in industrial settings.
- • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of staff and management.
Preferred Qualifications:
- • Certification in instrumentation or control systems.
- • Experience with project management, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
- • Familiarity with industrial automation and process control in industries like manufacturing.
