Legal Officer (Junior)

Summary

Reporting to the Legal Officer, the Junior Legal Officer will be responsible for performing duties including, but not limited to, representing the company in litigation matters in both the Supreme Court and the Parish Courts of Jamaica, conducting legal research, liaising with external counsel representing the company, assisting in managing case strategies, and providing legal opinions and recommendations to safeguard the lawful privileges and best interests of the company. 💰Salary: $5,198,035 JMD per annum

Required Skills

• • Sound knowledge of contract law, personal injury law, commercial law, company law, and public transport legislation and regulations.
• • Ability to independently manage litigation matters involving the company, including defending against injury claims, and conduct in-depth legal research and analysis to support defense strategies.
• • Sound knowledge of policy pronouncements governing the JJTC's operations.
• • Sound knowledge of litigation practice and procedure.
• • High levels of integrity, professionalism, ethics, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
• • Sound knowledge of legal drafting and interpretation.
• • The ability to communicate effectively orally, in writing, and as a courtroom advocate.
• • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Suite.
• • The ability to work in a dynamic environment.
• • Ability to effectively function in a team environment.
• • Ability to manage multiple cases and work under pressure with attention to detail.
• • Good analytical skills.
• • Excellent time management skills.

Qualifications

• • Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Degree
• • Certificate of Legal Education
• • Three (3) years related working experience in a public or private sector organization
