Assistant Crew Chief
Summary
Reporting to the Crew Chief, the incumbent undertakes the care, deployment and operation of firefighting applications and equipment to provide protection for all airport users and airport property; undertakes functional responsibility in support of fire suppression, prevention and protection on a daily basis to include emergencies; supervises the accurate and timely relay of information while fulfilling supporting roles to other operational divisions, and assisting with the shift operations to maintain adequate measures.
Responsibilities
The ideal candidate should have the ability to demonstrate core competencies/values such as customer and results orientation, business focus, cost consciousness, airport safety and security awareness, self-management, conflict management, and be physically able to execute the specified job in an effective manner.
Qualifications
- • Associate Degree in Supervisory Management or equivalent from a recognized tertiary institution.
- • A minimum of five (5) year’s work experience in a structured work environment such as the fire services, security force or the safety and security division of a large industrial organization at the level of a Junior Officer, and
- • A minimum of two (2) year’s on-the-job experience in the EMS including exposure to all aspects of firefighting, crash and rescue, airport’s security and the command or operation of a duty shift.
- • Training in First Aid/CPR.
Specific Knowledge Required:
- • Thorough knowledge of firefighting, ARFF crash and rescue techniques and procedures.
- • Sound knowledge of airside safety and airside radio procedures as well as hazmat operations.
- • Sound knowledge of ICAO, JCAA and IATA standards and regulations and Anti-Terrorist procedures.
- • Thorough knowledge of aircraft construction, materials and associated fire and safety risks.
- • Sound knowledge of the Airport Emergency Response Plan and working knowledge of the Environmental Emergency Response Plan, and Incident Command Systems.
- • Thorough knowledge of the airport topography and layout.
- • Knowledge of small craft operation and marine rescue techniques.
- • Sound knowledge of the use and operation of SCBAs and hazmat operations.
- • Working knowledge of Annex 14, especially chapter 9 and subsidiary documents.
