Assistant Manager – Credit Risk
Summary
Have direct focus on adjudication and oversight of the Bank’s retail credit portfolio.
Responsibilities
Adjudicate retail credit transactions:
- • Assess credit transactions within delegated lending limits using sound judgement and adherence to policy, taking a balanced approach to asset growth and portfolio quality.
- • Accurately identify, mitigate and rate risks.
- • Provide support to the retail units in developing and structuring loan facilities to ensure solid credit worthiness.
- • Serve as support administrator for the retail loan origination system (RLOS) in conjunction with Credit Risk team.
- • Ensure all applications are submitted in accordance with established rules and guidelines.
- • Escalate any technological issues or issues requiring intervention by internal IT administrators and/or the vendor.
- • Provide support to the credit risk managers in monitoring the Bank’s credit portfolio.
- • Prepare regular and ad-hoc reports on request in relation to retail adjudication and the retail credit portfolio.
- • Represent credit risk on working groups and committees as may be established from time to time in support of the Bank’s strategic initiatives.
- • Perform other job-related duties assigned from time to time.
Required Skills
- • Successful completion of a risk management designation/ training would be an asset.
- • Knowledge of regulatory and legal framework is highly recommended.
- • Proficiency in the use of computer software packages such as word processing and spreadsheet applications.
- • Strong proficiency in technology solutions would be an asset.
- • Ability to communicate effectively.
- • Self-motivated and able to use initiative.
- • Ability to work with minimal supervision in meeting deadlines.
- • High degree of confidentiality and professionalism.
- • Knowledge of banking regulatory and legal framework.
- • Proficiency in the use of banking technology.
- • Strong and proven credit risk assessment and analytical skills.
- • Solid knowledge of the relevant Jamaican laws/ acts as it relates to lending.
- • Sound decision making and problems solving skills.
- • Sound grasp and understanding of the tenets of lending and the practical applications of the principles.
Qualifications
- • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or relevant discipline from a recognized tertiary institution.
- • At least three (3) years working experience in credit risk management or related field.
