Senior Financial Accountant
Summary
The Senior Transmission Engineer is a key member of the Transmission Engineering team and is responsible for executing network transmission infrastructure tasks to ensure the smooth operation and optimization of the Government of Jamaica’s (GoJ’s) transmission network. This role involves implementing, and maintaining transmission systems, as well as troubleshooting and resolving complex transmission-related issues. The Senior Transmission Engineer will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to support the organization’s overall network objectives and strategic goals. The salary is J$4.82 million per annum plus any current allowances attached to this position.
Responsibilities
- • Maintains proper systems and procedures for accurately capturing all accounts payables.
- • Maintains proper systems and procedures for the accurate and timely settlement of accounts payable, payroll and all other payments ensuring that payments are made in accordance with the Financial Administration and Audit (FAA) Act, its Regulations, and Instructions.
- • Prepares management statutory and regulatory reports.
Required Skills
- • Excellent leadership abilities.
- • Good strategic thinking and decision-making skills.
- • Ability to lead change initiatives and adapt to evolving market demand.
- • Excellent Knowledge of the Government of Jamaica (GoJ) financial systems and applicable software.
- • Ability to analyze financial statements and reports, financial transactions and forecast the organization’s Wage Bill.
- • Ability to assess financial risks and recommends/engages risk mitigation strategies.
- • Knowledge and application of the relevant legislations, policies, and procedures.
- • Ability to cultivate strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to drive effective planning and management of the Authority’s financial resources.
Qualifications
- • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Management Studies with Accounting, Finance, or equivalent from a recognized tertiary institution, or ACCA Level 2
- • A minimum of five (5) years related experience in a Government of Jamaica (GoJ) Accounting Department
- • Government Accounting Courses (MIND)
