Summary

Provide financial reporting and accounting support to the Manager – Finance to ensure timely and accurate preparation, analysis, and reporting of financial and accounting information.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily accounting postings to the general ledger:

    • • Perform manual imports from the sub ledger into the general ledger.
    • • Record manual entries for transactions not included in the import extract.
    • • Reconcile the imports with the respective bank statements.
  • • Prepare cash & bank reconciliations monthly, or when required in accordance with the company’s reconciliation policy.
  • • Prepare schedules for all balance sheets and expense accounts.
  • • Prepare and reconcile intercompany balances.
  • Reconcile and clear the remittance control accounts for MoneyGram transactions monthly.:

    • • Record manual adjustment for cambio margin gains which results from the sale of monies received monthly.
  • • Prepare monthly analysis of significant movements for management accounts of the remittance division.
  • • Perform payments of invoices in accordance with company policy.
  • Engage in accurate and timely completion of duties relating to obtaining quarterly and year-end audit clearance:

    • • Assist in ensuring timely responses to audit queries and requests for information.
    • • Assist in preparing quarterly and year-end financial statements packages with assigned disclosure notes.
  • • Reconcile monthly payments made to sub agents in the general ledger for commission expenses.
  • • Perform any other duties assigned from time to time.

Required Skills

  • • Familiarity with computerized accounting systems.
  • • High proficiency in the use of computer software packages such as spreadsheet applications.
  • • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.
  • • Strong communication skills.
  • • High level of motivation and excellent organizational skills.
  • • Strong analytical, conceptual thinking and problem-solving skills

Qualifications

  • • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant discipline or the successful completion of ACCA Level II qualification from a recognized tertiary institution.
  • • At least three (3) years’ working experience in a similar capacity.
  • • Knowledge of accounting standards (IFRS), general accounting practices and techniques.
  • • Working knowledge of the Companies Act and regulatory requirements.
