Farmer/Groundskeeper

Summary

Maxfield Park Children's Home is seeking a dedicated and skilled Farmer/Groundskeeper to establish and maintain our farm, greenhouse, and animal-rearing operations. This role is essential in creating a sustainable agricultural program while also ensuring the upkeep of our grounds and green spaces.

Responsibilities

• Farm & Livestock Management:

  • • Establish and maintain the farm, greenhouse, and sustainable agriculture practices.
  • • Plant, cultivate, and harvest crops, fruits, and vegetables.
  • • Rear and manage livestock, starting with chickens for meat and egg production.
  • • Implement and maintain irrigation systems for efficient water use.

• Grounds keeping & Landscaping:

  • • Perform general landscaping duties, including trimming trees, weed-whacking, and maintaining lawns.
  • • Operate and maintain farming, gardening, and grounds keeping equipment.
  • • Ensure the outdoor environment is clean, safe, and welcoming for the children.

Required Skills

• • Knowledge of irrigation systems, plant care, and sustainable agriculture.
• • Ability to safely operate farming and landscaping equipment.
• • Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to work outdoors.
• • A passion for nature, sustainability, and creating a nurturing environment for children.

Qualifications

• • Proven experience in farming, animal husbandry, and grounds keeping.
