Empowering Communities Through Education

The Jamalco Community Scholarship supports undergraduate students who demonstrate academic excellence, financial need, and a commitment to community involvement. This scholarship is open to Jamaican citizens who are enrolled in or accepted by an accredited tertiary institution in Jamaica.

📝 Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet all of the following requirements:

1. Jamaican Citizen: Must be a Jamaican national applying for undergraduate studies only.
2. Recommendation Letters:
   • New applicants: 2 letters required (1 academic + 1 character).
   • Re-applicants: No references required.
3. Proof of Identity: Copy of birth certificate or other valid document showing age and nationality.
4. Academic Records: Copies of signed grade sheets or academic transcripts.
5. Enrollment Status: Must be enrolled in or accepted to an accredited tertiary institution.
6. Academic Performance: Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 or B+ average.
7. Financial Need: Must demonstrate a need for financial assistance.
8. Community Involvement: Active participation in extracurricular and community activities is required.
   • Awardees are expected to volunteer for Jamalco-funded community projects, based on availability.
9. No Dual Scholarships: Applicants receiving other institutional scholarships are not eligible.
10. Course Duration: Students changing their programme will not be eligible beyond the original 3-year course duration.
11. Honesty Clause: Any misrepresentation or failure to disclose accurate information will lead to disqualification.
12. In-Jamaica Study Only: Overseas students are not eligible for this scholarship.
