The Ministry of Education and Youth offers various funding opportunities for Jamaican students pursuing tertiary education, including specific scholarships for those interested in sports-related fields at the GC Foster College of Physical Education and Sports. Application Period and Submission Guidelines

The application period for funding commences April 1 and closes June 30.

Applicants are encouraged to SUBMIT their applications even if they are awaiting Status/Tuition letters and Transcripts. All other required documents for consideration should be uploaded promptly.

Please note the following:

• Students awaiting CSEC, CAPE, and acceptance letters from their institution of choice will be provisionally processed pending the release of their results. Submission of all other documents must be completed by June 30.
• Continuing students without transcripts, statement of fees, and status letters may submit all outstanding documents by June 30.

Scholarships for Undergraduate Degrees in Sports Education and Coaching & Sports Administration at GC Foster College

The Ministry of Education and Youth will award scholarships to first and second-year college students who are desirous of pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Secondary Mathematics Education, Science Education, or Technical Vocational Education, and also for persons pursuing programmes of study specifically approved under this program, which includes degrees in Sports Education and Coaching & Sports Administration at the GC Foster College of Physical Education and Sports.

Supporting Documents Required:

• Valid evidence of Acceptance/Registration Letter from the institution you applied to (must be available at the interview).
• Certified copies of transcripts or certificates.
• Two (2) Reference Letters.
• Two (2) Passport size photographs.
• Certified copy of Birth Certificate.
• Valid TRN (Taxpayer Registration Number).

Conditions of Award:

The holder of the award:

• Will be bonded to teach in a Government Educational Institution for five (5) years in the event they are pursuing a programme of study in education. Successful applicants pursuing programmes of study in courses outside of education (such as Sports Education and Coaching & Sports Administration) will be bonded to work in Jamaica for five (5) years.
• Continuance of the Award is subject to the successful candidates’ satisfactory performance, requiring them to maintain a “B” average or a 3.0 GPA.
