The Ministry of Education, Skills, Youth & Information is offering scholarships specifically designed to support Basic School Teachers and Caregivers in Infant Schools and Departments who wish to further their education in Early Childhood Education. This guide outlines the application process, general guidelines, and specific requirements for this scholarship.

Application Period and Submission Guidelines

The application period for funding commences April 1 and closes June 30.

Applicants are encouraged to SUBMIT their applications even if they are awaiting Status/Tuition letters and Transcripts. All other required documents for consideration should be uploaded promptly.

Please note the following:

• Students awaiting CSEC, CAPE, and acceptance letters from their institution of choice will be provisionally processed pending the release of their results. Submission of all other documents must be done by June 30.
• Continuing students without transcripts, statement of fees, and status letters may submit all outstanding documents by June 30.

ONLY SHORTLISTED STUDENTS AND/OR COMPLETED APPLICATIONS WILL BE PROCESSED.

Early Childhood Teachers' Scholarship

The Ministry of Education, Skills, Youth & Information will award scholarships to Basic School Teachers in Private-Public Grant-in-Aid Basic Schools and Caregivers in Infant Schools and Infant Departments who are desirous of pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, or the HEART NCTVET Early Childhood Associate Degree Programme.

General Information

Supporting Documents Required:

• Valid evidence of Acceptance/Registration Letter from the institution you applied to.
• Certified copies of transcripts or certificates.
• Two (2) Reference Letters.
• One (1) Passport size photograph.
• Certified copy of Birth Certificate.
• Valid TRN (Taxpayer Registration Number).

Conditions of Award:

The holder of the award:

• Will be bonded to teach in Jamaica’s Education System at the Early Childhood Level for a period not exceeding five (5) years.
• Continuance of the Award is subject to the successful candidates’ satisfactory performance, requiring them to maintain a “B” average or a 3.0 GPA.
