The Ministry of Education and Youth offers various funding opportunities for Jamaican students pursuing tertiary education, including the Specialized Scholarship. This guide outlines the application process, general guidelines, and specific requirements for this scholarship.
Application Period and Submission Guidelines
The application period for funding commences April 1 and closes June 30.
Applicants are encouraged to SUBMIT their applications even if they are awaiting Status/Tuition letters and Transcripts. All other required documents for consideration should be uploaded promptly.
Please note the following:
- Students awaiting CSEC, CAPE, and acceptance letters from their institution of choice will be provisionally processed pending the release of their results. Submission of all other documents must be completed by June 30.
- Continuing students without transcripts, statement of fees, and status letters may submit all outstanding documents by June 30.

Specialized Scholarship
The Ministry of Education and Youth will award scholarships to first and second-year college students who are desirous of pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Secondary Mathematics Education, Science Education, or Technical Vocational Education, as well as persons pursuing other programmes of study approved under the program.
Supporting Documents Required:
- Valid evidence of Acceptance/Registration Letter from the institution you applied to (must be available at the interview).
- Certified copies of transcripts or certificates.
- Two (2) Reference Letters.
- Two (2) Passport size photographs.
- Certified copy of Birth Certificate.
- Valid TRN (Taxpayer Registration Number).
Conditions of Award:
The holder of the award:
- Will be bonded to teach in a Government Educational Institution for five (5) years if they are pursuing a program of study in education. Successful applicants pursuing programs of study in courses outside of education will be bonded to work in Jamaica for five (5) years.
- Continuance of the award is subject to the successful candidate's satisfactory performance, requiring them to maintain a "B" average or a 3.0 GPA.

Any misleading/fraudulent information given will disqualify an applicant from accessing the programme.
