The Ministry of Education and Youth, in collaboration with the Issa Foundation, offers various funding opportunities for Jamaican students pursuing tertiary education. This guide provides detailed information on the application process, general guidelines, and specific requirements for the Elias A. Issa Scholarship (Female).
Application Period and Submission Guidelines
The application period for funding commences April 1 and closes June 30.
Applicants are encouraged to SUBMIT their applications even if they are awaiting Status/Tuition letters and Transcripts. All other required documents for consideration should be uploaded promptly.
Please note the following:
- Students awaiting CSEC, CAPE, and acceptance letters from their institution of choice will be provisionally processed pending the release of their results. Submission of all other documents must be completed by June 30.
- Continuing students without transcripts, statement of fees, and status letters may submit all outstanding documents by June 30.

Elias A. Issa Scholarship (Female)
The Issa Foundation, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Youth, will award a scholarship to female University students who are desirous of pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Management Studies at the University of the West Indies (U.W.I.) or Business Administration at the University of Technology, Jamaica (U-Tech).
Applicants should make their own application to the U.W.I. and/or U-Tech for admission. Incomplete applications will not be processed.
Supporting Documents to be Submitted:
- Two (2) recent passport-size photographs.
- Certified copy of your birth certificate or evidence of date of birth.
- Certificate of domicile signed by a Justice of the Peace (JP), Minister of Religion, or other reputable member of the community.
- Certificate of fitness from a Registered Medical Practitioner.
- Certificate of Character signed by a member of the community (e.g., Education Officer, Principal, Minister of Religion, or Justice of the Peace).
- Letter of reference: Academic/Professional.
- Certified copies of Educational certificates obtained and a current progress report if attending University.
- Evidence of acceptance at UWI or UTECH Jamaica.
Conditions of Award:
- Candidates should be:
- Jamaican citizens, domiciled in Jamaica during the last five (5) years.
- Not older than 25 years old on October 1st in the year of award.
- Pursuing or about to pursue full-time undergraduate study at the University of the West Indies or the University of Technology, Jamaica.
- The Scholarship award is valid for the academic year immediately following the offer of the award and cannot be deferred for any reason.
- Successful candidates will be required to sign a bond agreeing to work in Jamaica and work in a Government-owned institution for a period not exceeding five (5) years.
