The Government of Cuba invites applications from interested individuals wishing to pursue undergraduate and postgraduate studies in Cuba under the Bilateral Scholarship Programme commencing September 2025. Below are the details:
Disciplines
- Seven (7) scholarships to pursue Medicine Studies
- Four (4) scholarships to pursue bachelor’s degrees in Health Technologies
- One (1) scholarship to pursue Health Technologies Studies (2-3 years)
- Two (2) scholarships to pursue postgraduate medical studies (for graduates from Cuban medical schools)
- Three (3) scholarships to pursue degree courses associated with the Ministry of Higher Education of Cuba (see annex for specialized areas)
Eligibility
Undergraduate Candidates
Applicants must:
- Be Jamaican under the age of 25 years (for undergraduate specialties).
- Have completed sixth form.
- Have at least two (2) “A” Levels or CAPE Units I & II in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics (for medicine studies only).
- Have English at least at the CSEC level.
- Submit certified copies of academic certificates and transcripts, school records, and school leaving certificate.
- Provide a personal letter of request indicating community involvement and leadership.
- Submit two references (from school or community leaders).
- Submit a certified copy of their Birth Certificate and TRN.
- Provide a certified copy of the pages of their national passport (passport should not expire before April 30, 2032).
Postgraduate Candidates
Applicants must:
- Be Jamaican under the age of 35.
- Hold a Degree in General Medicine from a university in Cuba and be interested in specializing in indicated areas.
- Submit certified copies of academic certificates and transcripts.
- Provide a certified copy of their Birth Certificate and TRN.
- Submit a certified copy of the pages of their national passport (passport should not expire before April 30, 2032).

Obligation
Successful candidates must:
- Supplement at least one year’s allowance for the preparatory year.
- Sign a bond agreement with the Ministry of Finance and the Public Service before departure.
- Agree to return to Jamaica after completing their studies and work for at least five (5) years to contribute to the country’s economic and social development.
