Introduction
Jamaica Energy Partners (JEP) is committed to supporting academic advancement to foster economic development in Jamaica. As part of this commitment, ten (10) recipients will receive scholarships and grants valued at J$250,000 and J$180,000 respectively, per school year. These awards are payable per semester and cover tuition, books, and materials.


Definitions
- Communities: Applicants must have lived for at least five (5) years and currently reside within the designated regions:
- Region 1: Communities within Kingston & St. Andrew
- Region 6: Communities within St. Catherine
Eligibility Criteria
- Must live within Regions 1 or 6 as defined above.
- Must be accepted into a recognized/accredited tertiary institution approved by the relevant governing bodies.
- Must be 21 years or younger upon entry to the institution.
- Must demonstrate academic excellence and/or financial need.
Expenses Covered
- Covered Expenses:
- Tuition
- Books, supplies, and course-related equipment
- Excluded: Room and board fees
- Available to both full-time and part-time students.
- Part-time students must demonstrate exceptional circumstances that prevent full-time enrollment.
Duration & Value of Scholarship
- Scholarship duration and value are at the discretion of JEP's management and board.
- Minimum duration: One (1) year, renewable with a GPA of B+ or higher.
- GPA below B+:
- One semester allowed for improvement.
- Failure to improve results in discontinuation, though students may reapply after meeting GPA requirements.
- Maximum duration: May be extended up to the full length of the program, based on institutional guidelines.
- Award value may vary depending on:
- The institution attended
- Available funding
- JEP reserves the right to discontinue the scholarship program at any time.
- Grounds for Termination:
- Suspension or misconduct
- Failure to meet academic standards
- Dishonesty on the application
Application Process
- Deadline: August 8, 2025
- Submit: Completed application form with the following:
- Letters of Recommendation:
- One from the school principal
- One from a community member (Justice of the Peace or Minister of Religion)
- Student Essay (typed, double-spaced, 500–550 words) addressing:
- What the applicant hopes to accomplish through higher learning
- How the area of study will benefit the community
- Relevance of the area of study to Jamaica's energy sector
- Official transcript (CAPE/GCE results)
- Letters of Recommendation:

Payment of Scholarship
- Payments made directly to the institution.
- Payments disbursed each semester.
- Disbursement scheduled before the institution's payment deadline.
- Awardees will be notified when payments are processed.
- Recipients must inform JEP's Corporate Responsibility Manager of their institution's payment deadline.
