Physiotherapist (HPC/PT1) - Kingston Public Hospital

Summary

Examine, plan, administer and progress treatment programmes for patients to improve and/or restore function, relieve pain and prevent disability following injury, disease or loss of body parl(s).

Responsibilities

• • Examine all patients referred for Physiotherapy
• • Develop and implement treatment programmes for each patient
• • Progress treatment and refer on to other services as required
• • Document all information (i.e. subjective, objective, and treatment regime) for each patient
• • Revaluate and change patient's treatment porogramme when necessary;
• • Discharge patients when programme has been completed or as appropriate and prepare discharge summary
• • Develop home programmes for patients as necessary
• • Maintain accurate statistical Information (i.e. treatment units, visits) of au patients receiving treatment
• • Attend and participate in ward rounds
• • Consult with Medical Staff and/or Senior Physiotherapy Staff when necessary
• • Participate in In-service Education or other continuing education programmes organized by the department or by the hospital
• • Supervise volunteers {on recommendation)
• • Assist in annual inventory or stock taking exercises
• • Perform any other duties that may be assigned from time to time

• • Ability to motivate patients to comply with therapy
• • Display objectivity, resourcefulness, adaptability and sound judgement
• • Ability to work harmoniously with other members of the health team
• • Working knowledge of computer systems and programmes

Qualifications

• • Diploma in Physiotherapy or Bachelor of Science In Physical Therapy from an accredited training institution
• • Current licensure to practice in Jamaica
• • Entry level physiotherapist
• • First two (2) years clinical experience (post completion of Internship)
