NMS Engineer (Network Management System Engineer)

Summary

As an NMS Engineer, you will be responsible for the development and maintenance of the surveillance networks systems and associated networks devices at Digicel Global market. Responsibilities include the implementation, maintenance and enhancement of these systems, the establishment of procedures for their use and administration by the Global NOC and other technical operations across the markets, as well as the security of all associated computer nodes.

Responsibilities

• Development of programs and methods to streamline administration:

  • • Development of programs to automate management tasks
  • • Development of procedures to ensure uniform administration throughout systems.
  • • Development of programs to simplify operations

• Administration of High level management systems, Assure1, Cisco Prime and Solarwinds in particular.:

  • • Integration of platform specific management systems
  • • Integration of systems via SNMP
  • • Development of presentation layer for alarms and statistics
  • • Integrates all new nodes to the Solarwinds and Cisco Prime system in accordance with the TAC alarming requirements
  • • Creates and maintains tools and policies on the Solarwinds and Cisco Prime Network management Software Suite to enrich alarms using database inputs and perform customized alarming functionality
  • • Performs all system and user administration tasks on the Solarwinds & Prime platforms, i.e. on the NTA, NCM and NPM

• Administration of Ticket Management systems:

  • • Development of applications using various programming tools

• System administration:

  • • Server Installation and cable management
  • • Server health checks (File-system, CPU usage, Memory, swap, etc.)
  • • System Upgrades and other routine maintenance activities
  • • System Backups and recovery

• Users and Groups Administration:

  • • Maintain accuracy of user access and permissions according to the companies security policies

• Provide the Group Technical Operations team with systems and network support:

  • • Software support for their operating environments
  • • Developing programs to simplify tasks

Required Skills

• • Be able to interface well with both technical and non-technical people
• • Working knowledge of GSM
• • Working knowledge of SQL
• • Troubleshooting and analytical skills
• • Knowledge of Ericsson, ZTE and Huawei OSS/EMS
• • Experience with Apache, Send Mail, java scripting, web services and other API methods
• • Knowledge of IP Networking and associate technologies

Qualifications

• • Minimum of a Bachelors Degree in Computer Sciences or equivalent field
• • A minimum of three years’ experience in Systems / Network administration and development
• • Working knowledge of UNIX, Perl, shell scripting and IP networking
• • Experience in Database administration
