
Refrigeration Technician
Summary
The Refrigeration Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of industrial refrigeration systems, including cold rooms, chillers, freezers, and AC systems. The technician ensures optimal performance of all cooling equipment while adhering to safety, quality, and environmental standards.
Responsibilities
- • Perform routine preventative maintenance on all refrigeration and AC systems.
- • Troubleshoot and repair refrigeration systems, compressors, evaporators, and condensers.
- • Monitor system performance, pressure levels, and temperatures to detect and prevent issues.
- • Recover, recharge, and handle refrigerants in compliance with NEPA standards.
- • Maintain accurate service logs, maintenance reports, and documentation.
- • Calibrate and replace thermostats, control valves, and sensors.
- • Interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and equipment manuals.
- • Coordinate with other departments to schedule maintenance during non-peak times.
- • Respond to emergency breakdowns and ensure minimal downtime.
- • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.
- • Will be on-call in the event of refrigeration systems breakdown outside of regular working hours.
- • Report to the Senior Technician or Maintenance Manager any breakdown/system failure
- • Any other related functions.
Required Skills
- • Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- • Basic electrical and mechanical troubleshooting.
Qualifications
- • High school diploma or technical certificate in Refrigeration, HVAC, or related field.
- • Refrigeration troubleshooting and repair courses.
- • Minimum 3–5 years’ experience with commercial or industrial refrigeration systems.
- • Knowledge of Freon, CO₂, or glycol systems is an advantage.
- • Ability to read schematics and technical manuals.
- • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- • Good communication skills and ability to work independently or in a team.

This position requires practical knowledge of Ethernet switching, IP routing and TDM technologies (TCP/IP, RIP, Enterprise L2 switching, TDM transmission) as well as knowledge of Service provider lease and switched circuits designs. Additionally, the position requires the ability to understand and integrate complex designs using multi-vendor equipment. The primary role will be to provide 2nd line support for turn up of customer service solutions for our corporate and enterprise customers. The Technical Services Technician will also provide 2nd tier support for resolving customer TDM and IP services issues. The position requires that the individual provide after hours and weekend on-call support on a rotating basis. The Technical Services Technician will also be expected to contribute to the ongoing improvement in general network availability, the training of 1st line support staff and reduction of problem calls by implementing pre-emptive maintenance practices.
