Summary

Individuals in the Business Analyst role are responsible for serving as liaisons between the business units of Digicel and the Group BI/IS. They collect, analyze, develop, document, communicate business requirements, and support user testing to achieve business goals. Business Analyst play a critical role in ensuring successful data analytics projects. Their core responsibility is to define the use cases for data analytics, create KPIs and value metrics to measure success, interface with end customers, and collaborate with the data analytics and IT team for end-to-end analytics solution development and deployment. To ensure success in these areas, Business Analysts need to have strong expertise and understanding of the business / commercial domain and the telecommunications industry. They must be able to understand business needs and requirements, as well design and/or recommend data analytics solutions that can address those needs. They take a broad perspective to determine how such solutions will impact existing work processes and systems, and how to manage the integration of new systems. This requires an intimate knowledge of the current business objectives, business challenges, key personas, market trends, etc. Business Analysts should be able to effectively communicate these insights to stakeholders throughout the organization, including other members of the data analytics team. Business Analysts should have strong collaboration skills that allow them to coordinate with multiple stakeholders including data analytics teams, IT / technical teams, business teams, internal and external customers and leadership stakeholders. They should also be able to build relationships with subject matter experts who can provide valuable insights into specific domains or technologies when needed.

Responsibilities

• Business Requirement & Analysis:

  • • Assess internal and external users and IT Partner needs utilizing a structured requirements process (gathering, analyzing, documenting, and managing changes), advising on business priorities and developing functional specifications for business solutions
  • • Collaborate with BI & Business Analysts to understand business requirements needs and functional requirements into robust, scalable, operable solutions
  • • Offer insights on data collection, integration and retention requirements incorporating business requirements and knowledge of best practices
• Business Partnerships:

  • • Foster a strong relationship with business partners, ensuring alignment of technology solutions with business strategies. Seek opportunities to bolster the partnership between GIS and business units
• Project Planning:

  • • Participate in the planning stages, from inception to the delivery of BI solutions
  • • Gather and analyze data to discern business strategy requirements
  • • Contribute to work plan timelines and ensure projects stay on track
• Customer Support:

  • • Provide continuous support, including report creation, research, and documentation
  • • Analyze performance metrics of BI solutions to ensure user satisfaction and manage user expectations
  • • Continuous review of user requirements to align BI solutions to user analytical needs
  • • Engage with data analysts, business stakeholders, and IT teams to harmonize requirements and translate them into effective BI solution designs
  • • Actively contribute to cross-functional initiatives that entail the integration of BI solutions with other systems, tools, or data sources
• Information Systems Support:

  • • Analyze information systems / BI Solutions & Internal operation to understand their strengths and weakness to determine opportunities for improvements
  • • Troubleshoot issues, identify technical assistance needs, and escalate problems as necessary
  • • Develop and execute user test cases, ensuring validation of test results
• Data Quality Assurance:

  • • Promote data quality standards and ensures data consistency of BI solutions
  • • Recommends and tracks relevant quality metrics
  • • Troubleshoots BI solutions and daily performance and assist in performance tuning of BI solutions
  • • Trouble shoots reported data reconciliation inconsistencies in data models and/or reports
  • • Tracks, monitors and analyzes performance of production BI Solutions and implements improvements
• Research & Evaluation:

  • • Stay updated on emerging BI products/tools and industry best practices
  • • Assist in evaluating potential BI products and services for the organization
• Policies, Standards & Procedures:

  • • Adhere to organization and regulatory data standards, policies, and procedures
  • • Assist in creating efficient processes for data analyses and model development
  • • Collaborate to ensure data usage adheres to regulatory and security policies
• Training and Documentation:

  • • Assist in developing training materials and conducting sessions for end-users
  • • Support team members and provide guidance as needed
  • • Contribute to educational initiatives to enhance data literacy within the organization

Required Knowledge, Skills and Competencies

• • Strong capability in BI tools and data visualization techniques
• • Exceptional analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
• • Effective communication, facilitating information gathering and structured documentation
• • Comprehensive understanding of business intelligence, data warehousing, and data strategy for presentation layers
• • Ability to delve deep into data sources, definitions, and foundational roots of data elements
• • Proficiency in understanding and analyzing customer behavior and usage, market, and financial trends
• • Comprehensive understanding of telecoms core network & systems and derived data sources

Preferred Qualifications

• ★ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or related field
• ★ 3-5 years of relevant technical or business experience
• ★ Proficient technical, analytical, and interpersonal skills
• ★ Familiarity with business operations and system requirements processes
• ★ Knowledge of IIBA principles and practices
