Summary
The Junior DWH Data Quality Engineer role cross-functional team across Data Warehouse , Business Analysts, BI/Data Analyst & business stakeholders to provide quality assurance, primarily data error detection and correction on business processes, where data is collected, stored, transformed, or used. The role assists the teams with integrating data assets from a variety of external and internal systems and sources and ensuring and monitoring the final quality of internal data stores and flows. The Junior DWH Data Quality Engineer role is responsible for supporting, tracking, and collecting information related to the data quality aspect of the Data Governance Framework and monitors the quality of data used to make informed decisions, examines complex data to optimize the efficiency and quality of the data being collected, supports the resolutions of data quality problems, and collaborates to improve systems and database designs to incorporate data quality assurance. To ensure success in these areas, Junior DWH Data Quality Engineer need to have strong expertise and understanding of the business / commercial domain and the telecommunications industry. They must be able to understand business needs and requirements, as well design and/or recommend data analytics solutions that can address those needs. They take a broad perspective to determine how such solutions will impact existing work processes and systems, and how to manage the integration of new systems. This requires an intimate knowledge of the current business objectives, business challenges, key personas, market trends, etc. Junior DWH Data Quality Engineer should be able to effectively communicate these insights to stakeholders throughout the organization, including other members of the data analytics team. Business Analysts should have strong collaboration skills that allow them to coordinate with multiple stakeholders including data analytics teams, IT / technical teams, business teams, internal and external customers and leadership stakeholders. They should also be able to build relationships with subject matter experts who can provide valuable insights into specific domains or technologies when needed
Responsibilities
- Data Quality Assurance:
- • Quality Standards; Ensure that data aligns with the desired high-quality standards including accuracy, completeness, consistency, coherence, timeliness, and relevance
- • Data Optimization; Scrutinize complex data sets to enhance the quality and efficiency of data collection
- • Data Resolution; Address and resolve any data quality issues, working alongside database developers to enhance system and database structures
- • Data Lineage; Implement and maintain solutions that automate data lineage throughout its lifecycle from landing to the reporting interface. Actively detect and notify teams of data anomalies
- • Process Enhancement; Utilize insights from Data Quality Assurance and Data Lineage tools to suggest improvements to internal Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for better data handling
- • Documentation; Craft and maintain comprehensive documentation on key processes and maintain an updated data catalog
- Data Governance:
- • Governance Frameworks; Design, oversee, and refine the DA CoE Data Governance Frameworks that encompass data definition, classification, collection, translation, access control, and storage & sharing
- • Policies & Rules; Steer the organization's data governance direction, developing and enforcing stringent policies and guidelines concerning data quality, security, and privacy
- • Technological Expertise; Gain and maintain an in-depth understanding of technologies utilized for data collection, storage, and sharing to evaluate and manage associated risks
- • Regulatory Adherence; Possess a robust grasp of industry-specific regulations, with a keen focus on managing telecom datasets in compliance with these standards
- Information Systems Support:
- • Analyze data for compliance to system design specification (source-to-target) and expected/anticipated behaviors, identifying quality issues and recommending solutions
- • Actively communicate to internal/external/stakeholders/customers quality issues about the way data is collected, stored, processed, or used
- • Establish, monitor, and report on Service Level Agreements of external data assets with the source teams (internal/external) as it relates to quality assurance and production performance
- • Communicate the pervasiveness of data quality problems and their potential impacts and take the lead in resolving them via data integration and/or business process improvement
- • Continuous statistical analysis on data repositories to determine data quality and integrity
- • Determine root cause for data quality errors and make recommendations for long-term solutions
- • Offer insights on data collection, integration and retention requirements incorporating business requirements and knowledge of best practices
- Research & Evaluation:
- • Stay updated on emerging BI products/tools and industry best practices
- • Keep abreast in the developments and trends in data quality analysis
Required Knowledge, Skills and Competencies
- • Demonstrated expertise in BI tools and advanced data visualization techniques
- • Proven leadership skills, with the ability to mentor, guide, and positively influence teams
- • Deep analytical thinking, coupled with strategic foresight
- • Superior communication skills, able to bridge the gap between technical and non-technical stakeholders
- • Comprehensive understanding of business intelligence, data warehousing, and data strategy for presentation layers
- • Proven ability in understanding and interpreting complex data sources and client operations
- • Experience in managing client expectations and ensuring utmost satisfaction
- • Proficiency in understanding and analyzing customer behavior and usage, market, and financial trends
- • Comprehensive understanding of telecoms core network & systems and derived data sources
- • Knowledge of research methods, statistical or data analysis, and strong analytical/problem-solving and decision-making skills
Preferred Qualifications
- ★ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or related field
- ★ 5-7 years of relevant technical or business experience
- ★ Proficient technical, analytical, and interpersonal skills
- ★ Extensive knowledge and experience in business operations and systems requirements processes
- ★ Mastery of IIBA principles and practices
