Summary

The Manager, Strategic Planning is responsible for translating the Government of Jamaica’s (GoJ’s) polices into objectives for the SMA’s implementation and providing advice to the Managing Director on aligning SMA’s goals and objectives with that of the Government of Jamaica.

Responsibilities

  • Principal duties include:

    • • Reviewing previous plans and preparing the Strategic Plans and Operational Plans for the Authority.
    • • Facilitating the establishment of key performance indicators (KPIs) for the SMA.
    • • Organizing and participating in stakeholders meeting to discuss issues relating to the telecommunication industry.
    • • Conducting environmental forecast and preparing the SWOT and PESTEL analyses for planning purposes.
    • • Conducting research and studies on the effects of the Authority’s operations and delivery of services to stakeholders.
    • • Researching, analyzing and recording the effects of the Jamaican telecommunications policy on economic and industrial growth in Jamaica.

Required Skills

  • • Knowledge of the Jamaican wireless communication environment.
  • • Knowledge of quality management systems and standard

Qualifications

  • • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Corporate Planning or Management Studies from a recognized university.
  • • At least five (5) years’ experience in Strategic Planning and Research, two of which should be at a senior level.

Although a law degree is not a requirement for the position, the senior director should also have good general legal experience and detailed knowledge of various compliance frameworks such as FCPA, Sanctions, Data Privacy and how to conduct investigations.
