Health & Social Care Assistant (LEVEL 4) - Blossom Gardens Child Care Facility
Summary
To work as part of team providing direct care for the wards of the state in the Residential Child Care Facility (RCCF), in respect of their physical, psychological and spiritual needs, and be concerned for all facets of their lives while they are resident in the facility. đź’°Salary: $1,711,060 - $2,301,185 JMD per annum
Responsibilities
- • Provide basic counseling services to the children
- • Assist in the maintenance of a disciplined environment for children within the rules and guidelines in Child Care Facility
- • Assist with mediating and handling conflict and disputes between children
- • Implement decisions relating to behavioural treatment as instructed
- • Help to lift morale and maintain a cooperative spirit amongst the children
- • Inform Supervisor of identified clothing and other household items that maybe needed
- • Assist with the administering of medication as prescribed by Doctor to the children
- • Assist with ensuring that medication is kept secured and out of children's reach
- • Assist with the safe custody of equipment and supplies provided for the facility as directed
- • Prepare reports on critical incidents according to standard guidelines and within the designated timeframe
- • Assist with the logging of all visits to children by their parents/guardians
- • Participate in the serving of meals for the children
- • Participate in maintenance of cleanliness of the facility and a hygienic programme at all times
- • Distribute clothing and other personal items to the children as directed
- • Attend staff meetings as required
- • Maintain confidentiality of information obtained on the job
- • Perform any other related duties as assigned from time to time
Required Skills
- • Knowledge of the Child Care and Protection Act, Children (Adoption) Act and other relevant legislation
- • Knowledge of Child Development Agency procedures and practices
- • Knowledge of issues affecting children locally and internationally
- • Caring, patient and a good listener
- • Good time management skills
- • Good oral and written communication skills
- • Ability to work under pressure
- • Must be dependable, courteous and a team player
- • Good report writing skills
- • Good knowledge of CPR and First Aid
Qualifications
- • Certificate in Practical Nursing, Social Work or equivalent
- • Two (2) years' related experience in a direct or related environment
- • Valid Food Handler's Permit
- • Any equivalent combination of education and experience
