Summary

The Senior Analyst, Finance, Financial Reporting assists with the financial statement close process, taxation reporting and compliance, and undertakes reconciliation and analysis of all sections of the financial statements. The incumbent supports the oversight of all legal entities within the Jamaican OpCo by ensuring the overall integrity of the financial information in the general ledger. The incumbent helps to ensure that the financial systems, procedures, controls, and policies within the team’s operations are appropriate and functioning so that timely, accurate and reliable information can be produced.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains & coordinates data inputs received for updating various accounting cycles, e.g. register, fees and accruals, payables, audit schedules, verifying journals and reviewing supporting documentation to the general ledger to ensure timely and accurate financial records and data.
  • Supports the Manager with the processing of all relevant accounting and financial information for the financial close process, including reviewing journal entries, following up for accruals, reviewing reconciliations and analysis, and preparing the balance sheet and income statement schedules to ensure timely, accurate and complete financial reports are produced.
  • Reviewstax computations and returns for the Jamaica OpCo Finance team, including preparing the asset tax computation for review by the Manager, liaising with the tax authorities in relation to discrepancies and reconciling items, reviewing reconciliations of al tax related general ledger balances and agreeing those to external records to ensure timely, accurate and complete filing of tax returns and related payments, that there are accurate records of tax balances due and / or recoverable and enable the timely identification and resolution of tax related issues.
  • Maintains & reconcilesthe fixed asset register and affiliated sub ledger, including reviewing and, if appropriate, releasing for approval all fixed asset additions and disposals in FSM and the fixed assets general ledger suspense account to ensure all items are released before general ledger close and that the fixed asset register is reconciled.
  • Prepares & reconciles intercompany reporting and expenses, including preparing FX conversions schedules and entries to support JMD liquidity Horizon (LH) and the monthly reports of all placements and borrowings amongst the OpCos. to ensure the timely & accurate intercompany reports and reconciliations.
  • Maintainsapproved internal control procedures, including filing records and undertaking regular backups of electronic data; completing required quarterly management tests of controls; and assisting internal and external auditors when required for statutory audits and internal audits to ensure compliance with established financial controls and the timely response to the auditors.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Competencies

  • At least 5 years’ experience at a senior accounting level.
  • Experience in a financial services industry is required.
  • Experience in preparing financial and management information and reports.
  • Detailed understanding of accounting principles (IFRS), including financial statements preparation and internal control concepts.
  • Proven experience in forecasting and modelling techniques.
  • Solid understanding of financial systems and data collection.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in accounting or accounting designation (ACCA, CPA) or equivalent
