Summary

The North-East Regional Health Authority, a statutory body under the Ministry of Health & Wellness, with responsibility for the management and delivery of Public Health Services within the parishes of St. Ann, St. Mary, and Portland invites applications from suitably qualified individuals to fill the position of Registered Midwife for the Annotto Bay, Port Antonio & St. Ann’s Bay Regional Hospital. Reporting to the Ward/Nurse Manager the incumbent gives advanced level of care to patients who needs midwifery care before, during and after birth of a baby. Salary Range: 💰 $2,795,163 – $3,322,571 JMD per annum.

Responsibilities

• • Identifies nursing needs of each patient and makes a care plan.
• • Observes, reports, records signs, symptoms, reactions, behaviors, and progress of the patient and intervenes appropriately.
• • Assigns staff members and delegates duties according to skill and competence.
• • Executes therapeutic orders intelligently and appropriately.
• • Participates in ward conferences.
• • Interviews and counsels patients and relatives as needs indicate.
• • Supervises and participates in antenatal and postnatal care and deliveries.
• • Liaises with medical, paramedical, and primary care personnel in promoting linkages and discharge planning.
• • Assumes responsibility for ordering and storage of Ward stocks, dangerous drugs, and carries out the handing-over procedure.
• • Maintains physical safety and emotional support for patients.

Qualifications

• • B.Sc in Midwifery OR
• • B. Sc in Nursing with a Certificate/Diploma in Midwifery from an accredited institution
• • Registration with the Nursing Council of Jamaica
