Summary

The North-East Regional Health Authority, a statutory body under the Ministry of Health & Wellness with responsibility for the management and delivery of public health services within the parishes of St. Ann, St. Mary and Portland, is seeking a strong, dynamic, and proactive individual to fill the position of Physical Therapy Specialist (HPC/PT 3) at the Portland Health Department. The incumbent will be responsible to supervise physiotherapists, physiotherapy interns and students, conduct specialist clinics in the area of specialty as required. Salary Range: πŸ’° $4,359,501 – $5,182,077 JMD per annum.

Responsibilities

  • β€’ Plan, administer and manage the Physiotherapy programme for a unit/specialty area
  • β€’ Implement and monitor clinical programmes for Physiotherapy interns and students
  • β€’ Monitor the maintenance and repair of equipment and physical plant
  • β€’ Coordinate and participate in In-service education programme
  • β€’ Implement and monitor quality assurance procedures
  • β€’ Conduct performance evaluation reports for staff as required
  • β€’ Examine all patients referred for Physiotherapy
  • β€’ Develop and implement treatment programmes for each patient
  • β€’ Progress treatment and refer on to other services as required
  • β€’ Document all information (i.e. subjective, objective, and treatment regime) for each patient
  • β€’ Revaluate and change patient’s treatment programme when necessary
  • β€’ Develop home programmes for patients as necessary
  • β€’ Maintain accurate statistical information (i.e. treatment units, visits) of all patients receiving treatment
  • β€’ Consult with Medical Staff and/or Senior Physiotherapy Staff when necessary

Required Skills

  • β€’ Display sensitivity and empathy to the needs and feelings of patients.
  • β€’ Ability to motivate patients to comply with therapy
  • β€’ Display objectivity, resourcefulness, adaptability and sound judgement
  • β€’ Ability to work harmoniously with other members of the health team
  • β€’ Working knowledge of computer systems and programmes

Qualifications

  • β€’ Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from an accredited training institution OR
  • β€’ Diploma in Physiotherapy / Physical Therapy with at least 5 years of experience in clinical practice
  • β€’ Certificate in Supervisory Management/Adult Instruction/Clinical Education/Credentialed Clinical Instructor Programme.
  • β€’ Specialist Qualification/Certification in a major discipline in Physiotherapy
  • β€’ Has completed at least four (4) years of clinical experience (and completed rotation in all major specialties.
  • β€’ Licensed with the Council of Professions Supplementary to Medicine (CPSM) in Jamaica.
