Quality Assurance Officer (Level 4)
Summary
Under the direction of the Senior Review Officer, the Quality Assurance Officer is responsible for ensuring the quality and accuracy of passports by conducting thorough inspections and tests. The Quality Assurance Officer will work closely with the production team to identify and resolve any quality issues and maintain compliance with relevant regulations and standards. đź’°Salary: $2,803,771 JMD per annum
Responsibilities
Technical/Professional:
- • Conduct comprehensive quality control checks on ePassports to identify any irregularities or errors.
- • Scan barcode affixed to passport application form to facilitate checking.
- • Utilize Canadian Bank Note (CBN) reader to check the contents of passport produced.
- • Verify the correct integration of security features such as chip encoding, holograms, and special inks.
- • Secure passports and application forms.
- • Inspect ePassports to ensure accurate biometric data placement and readability.
- • Validate the correct positioning and functionality of digital signatures and cryptographic keys.
- • Perform tests to confirm the readability and accuracy of Machine-Readable Zones (MRZs).
- • Verify the compatibility and functionality of the ePassport with various scanning and verification systems.
- • Conduct thorough checks to detect any inconsistencies or discrepancies in personal information.
- • Collaborate with the production team to address any identified issues and suggest solutions for improvement.
- • Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of quality control processes, test results, and any identified issues.
- • Participate in the development, implementation, and improvement of quality control procedures and guidelines.
- • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, developments, and regulations related to ePassports and secure identification.
- • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth production processes and efficient quality control workflows.
- • Use specialized equipment and software to conduct quality control tests and verifications.
- • Investigate and report any potential security breaches or concerns related to the ePassport production process.
- • Monitor and track quality control metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- • Support internal audits and external inspections related to quality control processes.
- • Adhere to all relevant safety, security, and confidentiality guidelines in the handling of ePassports and personal data.
- • Prepare report regarding defective books and document frequency of issues.
- • Ensure that machines and devices used are calibrated and work correctly.
- • Transmit compliant passport to the Document Management and Logistics Unit/Issuing Unit for distribution/dispatch to applicant.
- • Prepare report regarding damaged passport when errors anomalies cannot be rectified.

- • Performs other related duties that may from time to time be assigned.

- • Good equipment troubleshooting skills.
- • Strong knowledge of the PICA’s policies and procedures.
- • Knowledge of the Data Protection Act, policies and procedures.
- • Proficiency in the use of relevant computer software and computer applications.
Qualifications
- • Diploma in Administrative Management or equivalent qualification.
- • One (1) years’ experience as a Quality Control Technician, operating in a production environment.
- • Certificate in Administrative Management.
- • Three (3) years’ experience as a Quality Control Technician, operating in a production environment.
- • HEART/NSTA Data Entry Job Certificate Level 2 or equivalent qualifications.
- • Three (3) years’ experience in a production environment.
Additional Information and Instructions
Special Conditions Associated with the Job:
- • Duties will be performed in an office equipped with standard office tools and specialized software.
- • The environment is a fast paced production setting with ongoing interactions with other employees who may be located in close proximity.
- • Meeting tight deadlines which will result in high degrees of pressure is a common feature of the job.
- • The incumbent may be required to work beyond normal office hours from time to time.
