Contact Investigator (HPC/SDI 1)
Summary
The North-East Regional Health Authority, a statutory body under the Ministry of Health & Wellness with responsibility for the management and delivery of public health services within the parishes of St. Ann, St. Mary and Portland, is seeking strong, dynamic, and proactive individuals to fill the position of Contact Investigator at the St. Ann Health Department. Under the general direction of the Senior Contact Investigator, the incumbent will investigate and locate sources of HIV/AIDS/STIs/TB and suspected contacts, in a confidential manner. The Contact Investigator will perform related functions such as counselling of clients and educating the community, in the prevention of the aforementioned. The Contact Investigator will also assist with the clinical management of STI clients. Salary Range: đź’° $4,359,501 - $5,182,077 JMD per annum.
Responsibilities
- • Verifying notifications of STIs submitted from clinic, health department or surveillance office at the central level.
- • Interviewing referred infected persons to obtain general and medical information about their sexual contacts.
- • Locating and motivating suspect cases and contacts, to report quickly to the physicians or clinics, for medical examination to determine the presence of infection and obtain treatment where necessary
- • Conducting STI clinic sessions to interview, counsel and ensure that clients and their contacts are appropriately treated according to the national STI management protocols.
- • Conducting pre and post-test counselling for HIV testing
- • Providing related health education and counselling for clients, contacts and their relatives
- • Participating in surveillance of HIV and STIs
- • Assisting in organizing and conducting outreach programmes and targeted interventions for high-risk groups
- • Conducting STI Health Education in schools, community groups, work places and Non- Governmental Organizations
- • Fostering and maintaining professional relationships with private physicians and other health and welfare agencies in communities
- • Contributing to the formulation of HIV/STI/TB work plans and budgets
- • Preparing and submitting monthly reports
Required Skills
- • Ability to operate tactfully
- • Written and oral communication skills
- • Skills in Counselling
Qualifications
Bachelors Degree from one of the following areas:
- • Registered Nurse/Registered Midwife
- • Medical Technologist
- • Public Health Inspector
- • Dental Nurse
- • At least three (3) years’ experience and satisfactory performance
- • Successful completion of a one (1) year training program, in Contact Investigation
