Accounting Technicians - Payroll (Level 5)
Summary
To prepare salary and allowances for staff in accordance with established guidelines 💰 Salary: $2,190,302 - $2,945,713 JMD per annum
Responsibilities
- • Check and address matters received relating to assigned payroll
- • Input new employees on the payroll system
- • Record and calculate acting, appointments, promotion, family benefit, seniority allowance, qualification allowance, vacation leave, study leave and salary in lieu of leave
- • Record vacation leave, maternity leave, no pay leave and employees’ resumption
- • Calculate and prepare payment for annual increments
- • File cheque listings, copy cheques, payroll register and deduction listings
- • Staple listings to cheques for the banks, record them in the Deduction Dispatch book and submit for delivery
- • Dispatch cheques for the payrolls
- • Prepare personal and statutory deduction cheques for dispatch, stapling listing to cheque, recording information in Deduction Book, placing cheque and listing in addressed envelope, registering and recording cheque in mail book and recording statutory deductions in the Statutory book
- • Calculate and prepare gratuity for persons paid on contractual basis
- • Prepare monthly journals for salary and allowances, as well as Education and Income Tax
- • Prepare monthly Health Insurance summary and submit to the Ministry of Finance and the Public Service
- • Prepare family benefits and pension statements on request
- • Balance wage bill to include contract, temporary and permanent workers
- • Prepare P24 and P45 forms on request by employees
- • Prepare Payment Vouchers for advance salary, deposit, NHT and NIS payments
- • Provide information for both internal and external Auditors, as well as for staff
- • Replace Salary Cards
- • Respond to queries
- • Attend monthly, quarterly and any other staff meetings as required
- • Maintain confidentiality and trusting relationships in accordance with the mandate of the Agency
- • Perform other related duties assigned from time to time
Required Skills
- • Knowledge of FAA Act and the Executive Agency Act
- • Knowledge of Government of Jamaica staff policies and practices
- • Knowledge of relevant computer systems and applications)
- • Excellent time management skills
- • Good communication skills
- • Good team and interpersonal skills
- • Excellent organizational skills
Qualifications
- • CAT Level 3, or
- • ACCA Level 1, or
- • Government Accounting, Level 1, or
- • BSc in Accounting
- • Minimum of two (2) years’ related experience
- • Any equivalent combination of education and experience
