
Charging System & Service Development Engineer
Summary
Supervise the operation, administration and support of the Ericsson Prepaid Platform (Charging System 4.0/5.0), including upgrade, expansion and network design. Support/Perform processes related to prepaid subscriber management and voucher management. Support Marketing/Products and Customer Care teams to configure promotions and services. Provide support the NOC and Customer Care to resolve network faults and customer issues. As Jamaica is hub for 15 countries in the region, the job will require support of all islands as it relates to nodes and services which are centralized in Jamaica.
Responsibilities
Management:
- • Prepare reports including weekly management reports and incident reports as required and present to Senior Engineer or Manager
Engineering:
- • Participate in design and recommended solutions to improve performance and network resilience related to Ericsson Prepaid Charging System
- • Configure Commercial products and promotions as they are requested by the Commercial teams
- • System log and statistical load parameters and make recommendations for system optimization, expansion and upgrade
- • Supervise and assist where necessary in customer site preparation and acceptance testing of newly installed systems
- • Execute the assignments related to Charging System integrations/upgrades and deployments
Operations Administrations and Maintenance (OAM):
- • Supervise the performance of maintenance routines on all systems, including backup and health checks
- • Manage the correction of any faults that are encountered to prevent or mitigate service outage
- • Where faults are escalated, manage CSRs/tickets to ensure issues are addressed in a timely fashion (requires working relationship with vendors)
- • Manage changes to the network for maintenance, repair, and expansion, upgrade or service setup
- • Ensure adherence to the business processes for Change Control
- • Ensure procedures are followed to minimize error in work
- • Keep all documentation agreed with Manager updates
Operations:
- • Conduct generation, loading, activation, delivery of Recharge Vouchers (require working relationship with top-up agents and distributors). Also, support marking of vouchers as damaged or stolen. All according to business processes.
- • Conduct provisioning of prepaid subscriptions, including bulk loading, conversions, and dual accounts
- • Configure and manage products and promotions on the Charging System and related applications for the Markets on the Jamaica hub
- • Conduct Node maintenance, backups, and write/update documentations related to network topologies according to internal processes and procedures
- • Support Customer Care, Fraud/Business Risk (to add/remove users from system, investigate anomalies); Marketing (to configure systems parameters to product requirements); IT/ Operations with Ad HOC requests related to Charging System and product/promotion configurations
- • Carry health check and audits of the Charging System and configured Products/Promotions assigned as per periodic requirements, under the guidance of Manager

Required Skills

- • Software Engineering
- • GSM and LTE/WCDMA understanding
- • Interfaces, in depth understanding, SOAP, xml, REST, CLI, CAI
- • Excellent trouble shooting and problem analysis skills
- • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Qualifications
- • B.Sc. Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Engineering or Computer Science, Software Engineering and Master’s degree will be an additional asset
- • 5+ years working experience with IN or VAS domain
- • Expertise in OS/DB Management and Telecom/IT protocols
- • Excellent understanding of network interface protocols, data decoding and scripting skills
- • Ability to cross perform in multiple VAS domains
- • Work load management, team building and management skills
